Edelweiss (Leontopodium nivale) is also called lion's foot, lion-headed gnaphale, silver star, star of glaciers or immortal snow. It is an alpine plant, covered with a white and woolly down of the family Asteraceae (ancient Compounds). This mountain plant is one of the most famous because of its rarity. In Switzerland, edelweiss is considered a national emblem. It is included on the piece of 5 Swiss francs
