The Grumman F-14 Tomcat, an onboard fighter designed to protect the US Navy's fleet from aerial attacks, was in service from 1974 to 2006. The two-seat jet engine was unique in that it had variable-geometry wings. With the wings folded, its maximum speed reached 2485 km / h (Mach 2.34). It was made famous thanks to the movie "Top Gun" released in 1986.
