The Federal Palace is the seat of the Swiss government and parliament.
It is inaugurated on April 1, 1902 after eight years of work. It has a surface of 3,742 m². It constitutes the harmonious completion of a line of buildings representative of the end of the nineteenth century. The Federal Council holds its weekly sessions in a room on the first floor with a view of the Aare and the large fresco depicting Lake Lucerne (birthplace of Confederation) adorns the Council Chamber with its five meters high and its twelve meters long.
